How to shape our lives
Updated: Sep 8, 2021
"The trick is in what one emphasises. We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves happy. The amount of work is the same."
Author Carlos Castaneda
I like to think that I am a reasonably capable handyman, always looking to create something rather than pop out and buy the shop version. Like building a shelf or an outdoor table or repairing something instead of throwing it out. I convince myself I’m doing the world a favour by fixing something rather than adding to the rubbish mountain.
However, when I calculate the effectiveness of a project, post a masterpiece being accomplished, I often question how long it took me, how many times I had to go and buy extra materials and how aesthetically pleasing the outcome really is!
But then the feeling of contentment and accomplishment I get from expending my own personal sweat and tears makes the whole thing a worthwhile project to me - and beneficial to my overall wellbeing.
What we choose to 𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘺 in life will go a long way to 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘦 our life.
