After a successful 25 year career in international advertising with the Bates network in Wellington and
Sydney, and with Saatchi & Saatchi in London and Europe, Roger returned to New Zealand in 2008.
Keen to move on from the corporate world Roger soon established his own consultancy advising and mentoring owners of small to medium sized businesses.
Firstly in Auckland, and now in Hawke's Bay, Roger enjoys sharing what he has learned from the world's best to help small business owners reap the benefits.
Excited about working with David Trim, Roger is keen to build the Hawke's Bay Profit Club into a vibrant and innovative network to drive business success in the Hawke’s Bay region.

An innovative and inspirational business development specialist, David is also a certified ‘Gold Rated’ business coach in New Zealand. With 25 years of experience in management positions, both employed and self-employed, David has a wealth of practical experience from being a business owner and corporate manager.
Over the last 15 years David has been coaching both business owners and corporate managers, from Fonterra to the local pharmacy. And as a director and shareholder in six local businesses, David truly understands how important it is to maintain forward momentum and sustain profitability.
As a coach, David has led many business development strategies resulting in significant turnover increases including multiple site expansions. He also works with organisation heads to build high performance teams and team leaders.

Your hosts and coaches, and joint owners of The Hawke’s Bay Profit Club, are Roger Smith and David Trim.
With more than 50 years of experience between them, Roger and David both know that running a business can be a lonely job. They also know that at times it can feel like you’re juggling carving knives while dancing on a rubber ball. One slip could be disaster!
That’s why the Hawke’s Bay Profit Club was born. As business owners themselves, they wanted to create something that offered genuine help to business owners in Hawke’s Bay.
